Surgery Day!

Well, today is the day. I'm getting ready to head to the hospital for my bariatric sleeve surgery. I've taken my "starting" weight, measurements, and photos. While it's so hard for me to even look at this, I know that it's just a starting point. I don't expect today to be a magic fix or have any misconceived notion that this is going to be easy, but I do believe that it will be worth it in the end. I have hope and that is stronger than any pain, inconvenience, sacrifice, or hard work that I will experience during this journey!

Pre-op EKG

I had my pre-surgery EKG this morning. I can't believe my surgery is 6days from now. I'm a little nervous, just because I tend to have problems after surgery, but I am more excited than nervous. I'm a week into the pre-op diet and it's going pretty well. I've stocked up on my protein shakes, bariatric vitamins, calcium chews, water flavorings, sugar-free Jello, pudding, and popsicles. Just trying to tie everything up with work.

Let me introduce myself

Hi, I'm Kimberly! Before we get started on this journey,  let me tell you how I got here. I am a 46-year-old wife, mom of three (15,15, and 14), a Jesus lover, Thriver, Real Estate Agent, and a 3x cancer survivor (Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Breast, and Cervical). I have had a total of 13 surgeries in the last 26 years, along with other health issues. My Doctors believe that my body has just been through too much trauma, making it hold on to everything, in anticipation of the next hit. I have been through three nutritionists, and two weight loss centers, tried (and stuck to) every diet and lifestyle change out there, and taken a slew of prescription appetite suppressants, weigh-loss meds, and injections, and through all the guidance, effort, and medical help I have gained 100 pounds in the last 8 years (70 of that in the last year).
